Creamy Vanilla Frosting

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Creamy vanilla frosting, an alternate name I would like to call a boiled flour frosting. I personally love this frosting, more delicious than the buttercream or whipped cream frosting. It is a little more time consuming than the others, but the flavour and taste and worth the time.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup granulated white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons whipping cream
  • 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cups unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Method:

  1. Mix the flour with one tablespoon of milk to a thick paste.
  2. Add the milk and sugar to the paste and mix well making sure there are not any lumps.
  3. Transfer the mixture into a heavy bottomed pan and add the cream.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer and keep stirring for 20 minutes.
  5. Once the paste has thickened, transfer it to the bowl of your beater and keep in refrigerater to cool.
  6. Once cooled, beat the paste until light.
  7. Add the butter and beat again until creamy and forms stiff peaks.

      Hi Divya

      1. If frosting is gng to be just little on top of the cupcake, one measure of the frosting would suffice, else double the recipe. But you need to be carefull while beating or it might be runny always, else make the recipe twice.
      2. In fridge you can keep for 2 to 3 days, In freezer you can keep for a month, but thaw in refrigerator the night before you would want to use. In both cases, beat them once again until stiff.
      3. You can use the milky mist cream here, cos it is boiling and the stiffness comes from the butter that is added in the frosting.

      Thanks,
      Subhashini

    Hi Subhashini,

Your chocolate seduction cake was a super hit in my family. I have just started browsing through your recipes to try out new stuff.

At the moment I can only bake a good cake …but the decoration part of is totally NIL. I some how manage to make Ganache or whipping cream (using bluebird whipping powder) but not so satisfied.

Also, Buttercream is a new area to me I have heard lots about it but seriously have not tried my hands on this. Why? i did go through some videos on this but was not very comfy with the ingredients and not sure if I will get them anywhere in the area I live (Bangaloare – Bannerghatta road). My request to you is to let me know if there are any receipes of preparing butter cream and if you conduct any sessions. If Yes please mail me the details or leave me your no to connect with you. Thanks!
